Ray Charles, born Ray Charles Robinson on September 23, 1930, was a legendary American singer, songwriter, and pianist. Known as the "Father of Soul," he overcame blindness at a young age to become a pioneer in blending R&B, gospel, and blues into soul music. His hits include "What'd I Say," "Georgia on My Mind," and "I Can't Stop Loving You." He won multiple Grammy Awards and was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
