Joe Sakic is a retired Canadian ice hockey player known for his 20-season career with the NHL's Colorado Avalanche. Born on July 7, 1969, in Burnaby, British Columbia, he was a skilled center and team captain known for his scoring ability and leadership on and off the ice. Sakic won two Stanley Cups with the Avalanche, received multiple awards, including the Conn Smythe Trophy and Hart Memorial Trophy. He retired in 2009 and was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 2012.
